Biography

Diane Rappisi is a contemporary realist painter whose work fuses the light and chroma of the Cape Cod colorists with the form and structure of the classical Italian and French academies. She works in traditional media of oil, pastel, charcoal, and graphite. Diane is a member of the Salmagundi Club in New York, NY, and is currently represented by the Kiley Court Gallery in Provincetown, MA.

Her work resides in numerous private and public collections across the country, and selected pieces have been published for the National Park Service in Glen Echo, MD. Diane’s recent exhibitions include the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Club 114th Annual Open at the National Arts Club in New York, NY, the Academic Artists Association’s 60th National in Springfield, MA (Academic Artist’s Award), and the Connecticut Society of Portrait Artists’ “Faces of Spring” in Old Lyme, CT (1ST Place award).

Diane trained in Philadelphia, PA, in the full-time Professional Program at the innovative Studio Incamminati, founded by renowned artist Nelson Shanks. There she deepened her understanding of color, form and anatomy, and discovered her innate love of figure painting. In 2008 she relocated from southern New Jersey, where she painted, taught, and founded two local arts organizations. Presently Diane teaches Figure Drawing at the North River Arts Association in Marshfield Hills, MA.
