David is currently teaching art in private classes, as well as through various arts organizations, and welcomes contact from the public with inquiries regarding currently held classes.



David Baggarly was born in 1963, in Mattapoisett, Ma. He graduated with a BFA from the Maryland Institute,College of Art, Baltimore, MD , in 1985. Residing in Baltimore until 1988 , he moved to Providence, RI., where he stayed until 2004. He now resides in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts, with a studio at 88 Hatch St. in New Bedford, Massachusetts.

From 1985 thru the present, David has been a professional artist, and private art teacher. He has, thru his career, created in many mediums, including oil painting, acrylic , watercolor, mixed media, collage, charcoal, pastel, and a few printmaking methods. David is currently working, in oil, on a series of modernist / abstracted paintings entitled "Series Transversus", which are inspired by early Christian icon paintings ("writings" being the iconographic term). He has also been working in the same "vein" with screenprint and collagraph printmaking techniques.

David has exhibited extensively throughout this country. His work was included in the New Bedford Art Museum's "Home Grown....10 from the South Coast" exhibit, September 2008 thru January of 2009. Other recent exhibitions include “New Works” at Breslin Fine Arts Gallery in R.I., and one person exhibits at Rhode Island College, Providence, RI, and Northwestern College, in Iowa.

His works hang in numerous public and private collections. Among those collections are MEDITECH , in Fall River, MA, Johnson & Wales University of Providence, RI, and the National Conference of American Bishops in Washington DC. David has also received numerous artist grants, including grants from arts councils in Baltimore, MD, Rhode Island, and the LEF Foundation in CA.
